Server Layers

You can now use vector server layers saved on the CartoVista Server in a HTML map window of the CartoVista Publisher to create maps with large volume datasets. Server layers are found in the Server Maps section of the CartoVista Publisher’s Map Sources Manager.

If the server layer is a point layer, it is also possible to generate clusters on the server, which improves the CartoVista’s performance when using this layer.

The CartoVista Server is used to easily deploy, organize and secure your maps and data. For more information about this new CartoVista product, see What's New - CartoVista Server 5.6.

Documentation in Portuguese

The CartoVista Viewer HTML Documentation is now available in Portuguese.

New Print Layout Options

The following new options give you more flexibility to create detailed print layout.

The name of the active theme set is automatically displayed next to the map title.

You can apply a background color and opacity to a text box, legend or chart.

Use the following tools to reorder different items of your print layout

Add the charts from the active theme set to the print layout using the following tool:

Address Search

If you own a Microsoft Bing license, you can add an address search bar to your published map by enabling the Address Search option in the Map Interface tab of the Viewer Configuration window

This tool uses Microsoft’s Bing geocoding capabilities to navigate directly to a specific location on the map, using an address, place name or postal code. A Microsoft Bing license is required for this feature.

Rounded Data at Publication

A new option allows you to round numeric thematic data at publication time to reduce the size of the published data file and improve map loading time

Coordinates in the Info Tool

You can get the geographic coordinates of a specific location by enabling the Display Coordinates option in the General Interface tab of the Viewer Configuration window

The coordinates are displayed in the information panel once you click on the map with the info tool. The coordinates will be displayed wherever you click on the map, whether there is a map feature at that location or not.

WMS Layer Legend

CartoVista now supports a WMS source’s GetLegendGraphic request.

The result of the GetLegendGraphic request will appear in the legend panel.

A new option in the General tab of the Layer Properties allows you to force the clustering of a point layer above a specific scale.

Above this scale, it will not be possible to turn the clustering off in the published map’s layer control. This option works to improve performance of large data sets.

Polyline Stoke Style

You can now apply a cap and corner style to the stroke of polyline layers.

Here are the different styles available:

Transparent Fill Pattern

When you are using a pattern fill style for a polygon layer, you can set two colors: the background and the pattern.

If you want to see the pattern only to see the base map through the polygon, you can now enable the Transparent check box.

Better Control of the Map Rendering

You can now cancel the map rendering in the CartoVista Publisher by using the ESC key. This allows you to avoid waiting for the map render while panning, zooming or changing multiple style properties at once.

In addition, a new button is now available in the Tile Window that controls if the map will be rendered or not. If the Disable Rendering button is activated, the map will not render until the Disable Rendering button is deactivated.

SpatiaLite Data Format Supported

You can now add SpatiaLite files (*.sqlite or *.db3) to the Map Sources and Data Sources managers.
