Save Map Sessions

When you are viewing a map in the CartoVista Viewer interface, you can use all the tools and panels made available for you by the map's author. Your changes can be saved in one or multiple sessions that you can access later. You can also share sessions with other users of the CartoVista Server by assigning specific access and modification rights for each session.

The following items are saved in a map session:

  • Current view (map extent).
  • Custom thematic analysis (theme sets).
  • Layers visibility, opacity and labeling options.
  • Legend settings (color palette, number of ranges…).
  • Annotations and drawings.
  • Filters in the data tables.
  • Selected records (selection).

To save the current state of a map in a new session, click Save and complete the following information:

  • Title: Name of the session.
  • Restricted Access: If the restricted access option is enabled, you can determine which users and groups have access or modify permission to the session. If the restricted access option is disabled, all the users and groups of your CartoVista Server will have access permission to the session.
  • Access Permissions: Only users and groups who have access permission can view the session.
  • Modify Permissions: Only users and groups who have access permission can modify the session properties, save changes or delete the session.

When you click Save, a notification confirms that the session was saved.

Under the map title, the name of the current session is displayed.

To view the list of sessions to which you have access, click on the map title. The Open a Session window will be displayed.

Click on the settings button located on the right of a map session title to change its properties.

If you want to delete a session, select the session and click Delete. A confirmation message will be displayed.

To open the original version of a map, go back to the map gallery and click on the map thumbnail. In the Open a Session window, click Cancel.
